Barbosa Film was established in 2014 by Nina Maria and Liv Joelle Barbosa Blad. The Barbosa-sisters have a Norwegian/ Colombian/ Belgian background and are one of very few sisters in the film history!

Barbosa Film has an impressive filmography and has produced 13 shorts and one hit drama series. Their work has premiered at prestigious festivals such as Cannes, Clermont, Winterhur and many more. They’ve also won several prizes such as two Amanda’s, two Gullruten awards and one Startsladden. The award winning series “Nudes” represents Barbosa Film’s debut on a longer format. The series was produced in collaboration with the Norwegian Broadcaster and has been screened on BBC3 and many other countries.

Barbosa Film produces art house, mostly fiction, shorts, drama series and feature films, with a focus on diversity and new voices. They’ve promoted diversity since they established the company, in contrary to the rest of the industry that started after #metoo. Barbosa Film is driven by values that are important as a guiding star and inspiration in this complex industry.

The Barbosa sisters are activists as well as filmmakers. If you want to know more about what inspires them you can have a look at their reading/ watch list called; Educate yourself.

Barbosa Film are currently developing several exciting projects in both short and longer formats with talented creators. Take a look at the creators they collaborate with!
